MELLINEE BATTS BAKER, age 95, passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Ashland City, Tennessee, on Friday, December 9, 2016. Mellinee Batts Baker was born on July 21, 1921, in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late James Monroe Batts and Nannie James Sanders Batts. She was a graduate of Ashland City High School and married for 71 years to the late Thomas Leo Baker. Ms. Baker was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Glenn Batts; two sisters, Arizona Batts Shores and Ozena Batts Milom. She is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved like her children. Funeral service will be Monday, December 12, 2016, at 10am in the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City, Tennessee. Burial will follow next to her husband in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the funeral home from 4pm to 8pm and on Monday at the church from 8am until funeral hour of 10am. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Nicholson, David Shores, Jeff Milom, Chris Milom, Patrick O’Neal and Nancy Neal.
