EDDIE BAUMGARDNER, 60, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord March 15, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va., by Pastor Rodney Hale. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park. He was born July 6, 1948, in Barboursville, a son of Julia Wilson Baumgardner of Barboursville, and the late Edmond Baumgardner. He was an active supporter of Barboursville, Ceredo-Kenova and Chesapeake Youth Sports, and Tumble World Dreams All Star Cheerleading, even throughout his illness. Eddie loved to play golf and was an avid Marshall fan, never met a stranger and had many many friends. Eddie and his wife opened their homes to children that were in need of parents for many years. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Greg Baumgardner. He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Preston Baumgardner; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kristyn and Dewain Adkins of Barboursville, Crystal and Josh Spears of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Mary Baumgardner of Huntington; one son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Dawn Baumgardner of Kenova; one sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Orman Hall; nine grandchildren, Logan and Brady Adkins, Savannah and Tyrus Baumgardner, Kelsi, Lakynn, L.J., and K'Lynn Spears and Hayden Armstrong; several nieces and nephews and his beloved companion, his dog, Emmy. Eddie was the son of the late Edmond Lowell Baumgardner & Julia Frances Wilson. He was the husband of Sharon Kay Preston and father of two children.
