BAXTER, ALFRED JOYCE, Private, No. 2769, 14th Battalion (London Scottish) The London Regiment (T.F.); son of Arthur Boyd Baxter, of 161, Burntwood Lane, Tooting, S.W., Wholesale Bookbinder, by his wife, Jessie, daughter of William Joyce; b. Stoke Newington, N., 17 Oct. 1895; educated Cambridge House School, Margate; joined the London Scottish after the outbreak of war, 1 Sept. 1914, was wounded at Vermelles, during the Battle of Loos, 25 Sept. 1915; and d. at No. 18 Casualty Clearing Station the following day; unmarried.
