Virginia was born to William E. and Mamie Kuki Bay. She was reared and schooled in Virginia City until the eighth grade, when the family moved to Carlin in 1941. She had been a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and American Postal Workers. Survivors include her husband, Alfred Barredo of Carlin; mother, Mamie Scott of Carlin; sons, James Barredo of Elko and Gary Barredo of Carlin; daughters, Susan M. Barredo and Bonnie How of Elko and Wendy House of Carlin; sister, Lillian Trowbridge of Wallace, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her father in 1969, brother, Jon Scott in 1982 and sister, Florence, preceded her in death.
