Lois (Bayes) Adkins

Lois Bayes Adkins of Elkfork, KY, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007, at her residence, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 28 days. She was born on Thursday, July 15, 1926, in Johnson County, KY, a daughter of the late Frank Pierce & Lula Lemaster Bayes.

Lois was united in marriage to Leonard Adkins. To this union eight children were born. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was saved at an early age and a member of the Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Adkins; two sons, Harold Adkins and Denzil Adkins; and one brother, Jesse Bayes.

She is survived by six children, Darrell and Haley Adkins of Fairborn, OH, Anna and Gary Mays of Wellington, KY, Sharon and Burns Cottle of West Liberty, KY, Windell and Sharon Adkins of Fairborn, OH, Leonard Ray and Marsha Adkins of Elkfork, KY, and Edna and Timothy Tyree of Elkfork, KY; one daughter-in-law, Linda Adkins of Ezel, KY; twenty four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three sisters, Sarah Meade of Flat Gap, KY, Martha Owens of Paintsville, KY, and Alka Williams of Delaware, OH.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Cortis Ison, Rev. Bobby Smith, and Rev. Dale Prewitt officiating. Burial in the Adkins Cemetery, Elkfork, KY. Visitation 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Church.

Pallbearers: Grandchildren.
