Genevieve Elaine Alexander, 90, of Lincoln died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Christian Village Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Roodhouse, Ill., the daughter of Ralph and Abbie (Husted) Bear. She married W. Herbert Alexander in 1949, in Lincoln, Ill., and he preceded her in death in February 2002.

She is survived by one son, Richard W. Alexander (wife, Debra) of Libertyville, Ill.; daughter, Abbie A. Alexander of Peoria, Ill., and daughter, Sandra Komendanchik (husband, Greg) of Denham Springs, La.

She was preceded in death by one son, W. David Alexander; and one sister, Mildred Merry.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Mrs. Alexander was a University of Illinois graduate who worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Alexander's Town & Country Market, until its closure in 1997.

She was an avid bridge player and loved to read books.

Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Lincoln.
