Peggy Beard, 91, of Hudson, Florida, formerly of South Bend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2007.
She was born January 2, 1916 in South Bend, IN to Pete & Mildred (McCollough) Solloway and has lived in the South Bend area most of her life.
On September 29, 1934 in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Rev. Raymond J. Beard. Together, they enjoyed fifty years of marriage until his passing on December 9, 1984. She and her husband served as pastors of Immanuel Baptist Church in Elkhart, IN; and Lakeside Baptist Church in Lakeville, IN.
Mrs. Beard retired from the Housekeeping Dept. at Carlyle Nursing Home in South Bend. She was attending Gulf Coast Worship Center, New Port Richey, FL.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy A. Flanders of Hudson, FL, and Deborah (Dan) Trossen of Altavista, VA, and a son, Raymond J. "RJ" (Mary Ann) Beard of Indianapolis.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, her sister, Carrie Mitchell of New Carlisle, and a step-brother, Henry De Rouck of Crestwood, KY. She also leaves behind her dog "Ricky".
Along with her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Vicki Lyyn Harshman and Jacqueline Ewert, and by two brothers, Robert and Charles Solloway.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. David Jenkins will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., and one hour prior on Monday at Church.
Memorials may be offered to Calvary Baptist Church, or Gulf Coast Worship Center, 10534 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654.
