COBLESKILL—Mrs. Alice Beard,
84, widow of the late Dr. Franklin
Beard, died Sunday at her home on
Grand street after an illness of
seven months. She was born in
Charlotteville, Nov. 7, 1852, daughter
of John and Jemiah Lamont
Chickering.
She married Dr, Beard in 1873,
and for a number of years they
lived in Cobleskill where Dr. Beard
practiced medicine. She was charter
member of the Rising Star Chapter,
O.E.S., a member of the Captain
Christian Brown Chapter, D.A.R., and
the Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Claude,
Dr. John Beard and Dr. David Beard,
all of this village; two daughters,
Mrs. Floyd Holmes, Lawyersville,
and MHdrod of this village; two
sisters, Mrs, Maria MacDonald, this
village, and Mrs. Jennie Stronigan,
Lawyersville; one brother, Finley
Chickering, Summit; nine grandchildren;
one great-grandchild and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from
the home of Dr. David Beard, Tuesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev.
G. Lewis Porter officiating. Burial was made in rural cemetery.
