Carol Beattie, 68, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Shepherd's Residential.

Carol was born on October 19, 1945, in Maloy, Iowa to James E. and Norma Lee (Higdon) Stanley. She graduated from Mid-Buchanan High School in 1963 and attended Missouri Western State College. Carol worked at Nestle-Purina, drove a school bus, was a Sergeant with Buchanan County Sheriff's Department, had her pilot's license and was an emergency medical technician. She enjoyed riding mules, photography and working in her dark room, but best of all, she was our mother.

Carol was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Joyce Kreb.

Surviving family includes her mother, Norma (Bill) Luther; sons, Paul (Susan) and Eric (Kristie) Garrison; six grandchildren, Brett, Bridgett, Erica (Aaron), Beth Anne, Kaylee, and Schuyler; two great-grandchildren, MaKenzie and Kaden; and brothers, Don (Carolyn) Stanley and Donald (Susan) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews
