From 1986 (after her husband retired from the National Park Service) for the next 16 years, Diane and Hugh Beattie traveled with a 30-foot travel trailer towed behind their truck and explored the wonders of North America. Diane and Hugh finally settled down to do shorter trips from their home base at North Ranch Escapees RV Park, 30625 Arizona 89, Congress, AZ 85332, near Wickenburg & Congress, AZ, where they both passed away, and where both their daughters now own property -- (Gloria's winter home about five miles away).

Survivors include their daughters, Gloria, and Kathleen. No grandchildren.

Diane's husband, Hugh Powers Beattie, was the FIRST Superintendent of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore:
