Edward P. Beattie 85 of Gulfport died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Hospice Woodside. Born in Brooklyn, New York he moved here 23 years ago from Storrs, Connecticut. He was a building inspector and fire Marshall for the town of Mansfield, Connecticut and attended St. Mary's Church in Coventry, Connecticut. Locally he attended the Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Mr. Beattie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth G. Beattie; a daughter, Kathleen N. Mathieu, Kalispell, Montana; three sons, Michale A. Beattie, Coventry; Edward W. and Scott L. Beattie both of Willimantic, Connecticut; a sister, Agnes Arnett, Westerly, Rhode Island; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Service and interment will be later.
