Former Sterling resident Boydd Louis Beattie, 56, died Feb. 8, 2011, after a four-month battle with lung cancer. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. For more information, please call The Rock / Real Community Church in Castle Rock at (303) 688-0777.
Mr. Beattie was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Sterling, to Norman and Margaret (Conklin) Beattie. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1973.

He is survived by wife, Beverly Hoover Beattie of Castle Rock; father, Norman Beattie of Shepherd, Mont.; son, Nathaniel Dexter and wife Chrissy Ridgley Dexter of Denver; daughter, Heather Beattie Dixon and husband Eli Dixon of Yukon, Okla.; daughter, Hailey Beattie of Bridgeport, Neb.; grandsons, Elijah Dixon and Landen Harmon; granddaughter, Audrey Dexter; sister, Ronda Beattie Davenport and husband Paul of Fort Collins; brother, Wally Beattie of Las Animas; stepdaughter, Shanda Smith of Scottsbluff, Neb.; stepdaughter, Autumn Burkholder of Colorado Springs; stepson, Wally Burkholder of Denver; step-grandsons, Marshall and Rylan Muhr and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Conklin Beattie; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
