Donna Marie "Lou" Beckett, 53, the daughter of the late Raymond Edward Lambert and Louvenia Hill Lambert, was born Friday, Feb. 10, 1961, in Lakewood, N.J. She departed this life in her sleep Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.

Donna's early education for elementary and middle school was in Lakewood. After her mother, Louvenia Lambert passed away when Donna was 13 years old, she remained in Lakewood, then moved to Sylvester, Ga., living with her brother Wayne Hill and great-aunt Nettie K. Reglus. She then moved to Delaware and attended Cape Henlopen High School where she met the love of her life, Edward Beckett. Donna and Edward married, and from that union they were blessed with two sons: Dwayne Beckett and Edward Beckett III.

Donna continued her education in management marketing and obtained an associate's degree. She held several positions in customer service, banking and human resources management.

She loved to cook and feed her family. She enjoyed having fun, laughing and helping others, but mostly she loved spending time with her granddaughter Dayla. For leisure, she would try out new recipes and reading romance novels by Carl Weber, Kimberly Robinson and Terry McMillan. She also enjoyed worshiping and praise services throughout the community and in support of her sister, Sharon, with Women's Empowerment Destiny Outreach Ministry.

Leaving to cherish Donna's memories are: her husband, Edward "Eddie" Beckett of Bridgeville; two sons: Dwayne Beckett (fiance' Carla Oney) and Edward Beckett III, and one granddaughter Dayla Beckett, all of Seaford; one brother, Wayne (Brenda) Hill and their sons Rodney, Zaterrian and Aquavius Hill, all of Sylvester; one sister, Sharon Lambert and her children Sharmaine and Jermaine Lambert, all of Milton; two aunts: Janie Hill of Lakewood and Daisey Williams of Wilmington; her mother-in-law Magdalene Cox of Milton; her brothers-in-law: Otha "Chico" (Diane) Beckett of Milton, Barry "Candyman" (Trudy) Beckett of Frederica, Arthur "Feedie" (Pamela) Cox of Philadelphia, Pa., Peter (Bernita) Cox of Rehoboth, and Eugene "Dino" Cox of Georgetown; her sisters-in-law; Vanessa "Pie" (Bernard) Hinton of Ellendale, Tina Cox of Milford, Marlene (Chris) Sheldon of Milton, Brenda Booth of Laurel, Md., Liz Feist of Laurel, Lorraine Feist of New York, Pauline Feist of New York, Dana Feist of Louisiana and Zwanda Wingo of Dover; and an aunt-in-law, Shirley (Victor) Paynter of Rehoboth, Beach. Donna leaves to mourn her loss a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, along with her other family members in Delaware, Georgia and New Jersey.

There will be a funeral service Saturday, Sept. 6, at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 W. Fourth St., Lewes, at 1 p.m., where friends may call two hours prior. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Homes.
