Donald Neal Beckett, 53, of Brimfield, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
He was born in Montgomery, WV to Forrest "Ebb" and Shirley Ann (Echols) Beckett. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1976. He started with SOHIO working at a gas station at the age of 16. He left BP, where he was a District Supervisor, to start as a civilian Fire Inspector for the City of Kent. He worked as a firefighter/paramedic with the Kent Fire Department for the last 23 years. While working for BP, he started as a volunteer firefighter at Munroe Falls and also served as Fire Chief with Ravenna Township. He is a member of Riverwood Community Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi Joy (Hosterman) Beckett, whom he married on July 31, 1982; son, Ryan Beckett of Brimfield; daughter, Christy Beckett of Brimfield; mother, Shirley Beckett of Akron; brother, David (Terri) Beckett of Hagerstown, MD; and nephew, Benjamin Beckett of Hagerstown, MD. He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, October 23rd at Theodore Roosevelt High School Auditorium. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, October 24th at Riverwood Community Chapel, 1407 Fairchild Avenue, Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to Kent Firefighters Association Benevolent Fund, 320 S. DePeyster Street, Kent, OH 44240.
