Helene A. Baetz, age 93, of Dundee passed away on Tuesday, November 4 , 2014 at Medilodge of Monroe. She was born in Lemaster, Massachusetts November 20, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Carmier) Beckett. She married Arthur F. Baetz October 19, 1944 in Detroit while he was in the military during World War II. He passed away April 13, 1995. She had worked in retail and at the J.L. Hudson Co. in Detroit where she met her husband. He was employed in the J.L. Hudson sporting goods department for many years and knew many influential Detroit area business leaders and politicians through their involvement with hunting and fishing . She had lived in Detroit area most of her life before coming to Dundee where they resided at Rawson Place. She was a member of and played kazoo in the Dundee Senior Citizen Fun Band, member of the Dundee Senior Citizen Center, enjoyed playing cards and travelling and even went to Hawaii after her husband passed away. She also enjoyed making quilts. Surviving her are her daughter Cheryl (Dan) Gumola of Maybee; sons Charles (Cindy) Baetz of Ann Arbor and Thomas (Vicki) Baetz of VanNuys, California; grandchildren Stephanie (Daryl) Bell, Michelle Mack, Kristin Gumola, Hahna Ginzel, Paul (Crystal) Baetz and Matthew (Felecia) Gumola; also ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Robert Beckett. Friends may call from 2- 7 PM on Friday, November 7, 2014 the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156 888-383-4176). Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Flory, pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Petersburg. Burial will be at Woodmere Cemetery on W. Fort Street in Detroit. Memorials be made to the Salvation Army or to Lutheran Indian Ministries.
