BEDINGER WINSTON-SALEM Alice Webb Bedinger Jan. 20, 1929-June 9, 2014 Alice Webb Bedinger, 85 of Winston Salem, died June 9, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center, after a short hospital stay. She was one of seven children and was born January 20, 1929 in Surry County, VA, daughter of the late Floyd Lafayette Webb and the late Mary Elizabeth Jones Webb and was raised outside Richmond, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her eldest son, Neal Anderson Bedinger III and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Webb, A. Minette Webb, and Nancy Brown. Alice married Neal Anderson Bedinger, Jr. in Richmond, VA on June 4, 1949. They resided in Durham, NC until moving to Winston-Salem, NC in 1960, where they raised 4 children. Among the things Alice most enjoyed included family vacations at her home at Sunset Beach, going to Wake Forest football games with a large group of friends, and many annual visits to her family farm outside Richmond, VA. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Bon Vivant Social Club, the Garden Study Club of Winston-Salem, where she also served as president. For many years she volunteered as a voting Poll worker. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Neal Anderson Bedinger, Jr. of Brighton Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC; three children, William Bruce Bedinger of the home, David Webb Bedinger of Charlotte, NC, and Mary Elizabeth Dixon (Greg) Charlotte, NC; sisters and brothers, Mary Lee Haglin of Clark Summit, PA; Robert Webb of Elk Ridge, MD; Paul Webb (Donna) of Madison AL; three grandchildren, Drew Dixon, Ben Bedinger and Kristin Bedinger; and a great grandson, Jackson Bedinger. A memorial service to celebrate Alice's life will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood St, Winston-Salem, NC, with Pastor Ken Myers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. There will be a private entombment service held at Forsyth Memorial Park for the family Friday.
