Vivian I. Baustert, 82, of Oklahoma Borough, died Friday, May 16, 2008, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Vandergrift, daughter of the late Lewis and Nora (Waltenbaugh) Beer, and lived in the Apollo area all her life. She worked as a cook for the Mosey Inn and Patrick's Pub, both of Apollo, for many years, retiring in 1988. She loved playing, singing, and listening and dancing to country music, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, baking and bowling with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J., in 1976; son, Walter P., in 1997; granddaughter, Michelle Mulhall, in 2002; companion, Edward Zimmerman; brothers, Paul and Irvin; five sisters, Madalyn, Zelma, Dorothy, Retha and Hazel; and daughter-in-law, Betty (Boyd) Raschiatore. She is survived by her son, Nicholas J. (Sandy) Baustert, of Apollo; daughters, Shirley J. (Dennis) Hubert, of Oklahoma Borough, with whom she resided, Claire (Louis) Blystone, of Apollo, and Mary Alice (Earl) Bernard, of Farmsdale, Ohio; sons, Rudolph "Rudy" Raschiatore, of Apollo, and Kenneth (Marcia) Baustert, of Apollo; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty (Michael) Kuno, of Erie. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Apollo, PA., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Darrell Carney officiating. Private burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift.
