He was born in Waukegan on Aug. 7, 1921, the son of the late Sophia and Albert.
He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army and the Army Air Corps. His tour of duty included the Pacific Theater, Tinian and Saipan.
He graduated from the University of Illinois Medical School in 1954 and began his family practice the same year. Dr. Behn was on the staff of Victory Hospital (now Vista East) from Oct. 19, 1956, until his retirement on Nov. 20, 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Alan (Cindy) Behn, Martha (Wayne) Anderson, Pat (Randy) Lee, Karl Behn, and Alison Behn; his grandchildren, Greg, Brittany, Riley, Chelsea, James, Jon, Joe, Jessica, Justin, Joshua and Nathanael; and his sisters, Lorraine Opitz and Beverly Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice.
Funeral services were Oct. 7 at Crossroads Church, 1350 Route 137, in Grayslake.
Interment was at Northshore Garden of Memories Cemetery in North Chicago.
