Dorothy Bailey Dies At 47

Dorothy V. Bailey, 47, of Mill Valley, died today in a San Francisco rest home after a short illness.

She was the wife of Ray Bailey, artist of the "Bruce Gentry" comic strip, and had lived since June at 215 Miller Avenue. Mrs. Bailey formerly lived one year in Sausalito, coming to California from her native New York.

Mrs. Bailey was a former fashion illustrator. She was an alumnus of Pratt Institute in New York City and was active in several women's groups in New York. She attended both Mill Valley and San Rafael Christian Science churches.

Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Bonnie Gay Bailey of Mill Valley and Carol Jo Bailey of Stanford University; a son, Richard W. Bailey of San Francisco; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Behrens of Valley Stream, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. Alvan Holeywell of Baldwin, N.Y.

Private funeral and cremation will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael, directed by Russell and Gooch Mortuary, Mill Valley.
