Avis was born May 12, 1916 in Pearl River, NY to Frank E. and Olive M. Randall.
She was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pearl River. Avis led a full life as a loving mother, a furrier, a seamstress and a baker. She played basketball for Pearl River High School.
She is survived by her children: Marilyn Gabel and husband, George of New City, NY, Eileen Behrens of Princeton, NJ, Bernice Riecker and husband, Ted of Cornwall, NY, Sharon Lee and husband, Howard of LaJose, PA, Tracie Rifflard and husband, Bob of Washingtonville, NY, Iris Mehl and Joe Favaloro of Hillsdale, NJ, Edward Behrens and wife, Cathy of Middletown, NY and Alan Behrens and wife, Concepcion of Wimauma, FL; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin E. Behrens (1992).
Visiting is Monday, July 6, from to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Inc, 100 Franklin Ave., Pearl River, NY.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, N. Main St., Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Pauls Highview Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
