Husband of Evelyn Himel Cross, married July 6, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They were married for 62 years when Evelyn passed away.

Father of Lettie Lee French.

Son of Henry David French and Matilda Louise Sutherland of Algiers, Louisiana, he was named for family friend Mayor Martin Behrman of New Orleans. He was called Behrman by family members and close friends. Martin, or M. B. as he was sometimes called, worked for Southern Bell Telephone Co. He started out as a draftsman in New Orleans. When the company was laying off personnel during the Great Depression, he was offered a job installing telephone poles, and he accepted the job change. He worked in several places in South Louisiana, including Patterson, where his daughter was born, and for many years in Baton Rouge before finally moving to Houma where he retired after 45 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Martin and his wife Evelyn entertained at Houma area nursing homes for many years, singing and playing the banjo and ukelele. They were a couple much-loved by family and friends alike.
