She was raised with her sister Flora and brother Benny in the Temagami area. Angele guided Agnes in the ways of hunting, trapping and fishing. She affectionately remembers her father Grey Owl for his piano playing and his love of the wilderness.
In her younger years Agnes worked as a Cook for the Ontario Boat Lines and the Minawassi Hotel in Temagami. An excellent cook and baker, Agnes was well known for her lemon pies. Her kitchen often welcomed company with the aroma of fresh bread, baked beans and fish. In the 1970's, Agnes settled in North Bay.
Agnes was a great storyteller. She would talk for hours about her life growing up in the Ojibway culture. Agnes enjoyed beadwork, sewing, crocheting and knitting socks for everyone at Christmas. Agnes devoted her time tending to her plentiful gardens.
