Mary L. Belaney, 91, of Midland, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, in Villa St. Joseph, Baden. Born July 26, 1914, in Irondale, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Anna Steczak Plahita, she was a member of St. Blaise Parish Family and the Christian Mothers Guild. She was past president of the following: American Legion Post 481 Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8168 Ladies Auxiliary and the Beaver County Senior Citizens. Mary was active in Midland Boro government, serving as the register of voters and judge at the election polls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Belaney, on Jan. 21, 1965. She is survived by her dear friends, Dolly and Selma Szurley, Midland, and nieces and nephews.
