Abel Belknap was probably first married to Merneva (1841-1870) (#13171441) because an Abel Belknap and Merneva were both buried in Riverside Cemetery. Abel's headstone is engraved with "Father" while Merneva 's headstone does not have "Mother" engraved on it. (Abel did have a sister Maria who was born in 1841; it could be his sister instead of his wife, though the names are different.)
Maria Hart Belknap and two grown Belknap children (Elmer and F. Geneva) were buried in Glendale Cemetery in the same section. So it is a mystery why Maria and Abel are not buried together. Maria died 10 years after Abel, who died 8 Jan 1919 in Meridian, Ingham, Michigan, per his death certificate on seekingmichigan.org.
Elmer Belknap is probably the son of Abel and Mervena Belknap because he was born in 1868. Mervena died in 1870 and Maria and Abel were married in about 1871, per 1900 census.
