Rev. Father Jose Bosch Bellavista was ordained a Catholic priest in Barcelona, Spain, in 1936. During the Spanish Civil War, his bishop and eight fellow priests were murdered, but Fr. Bellavista escaped and then served as a military chaplain. He came to California in 1950, and served at several parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles before going to St. Aloysius parish in 1964. He last served in retirement in Norwalk, CA, and he died at age 89.
