Alice Barney was the daughter of Prosper Bennett and Esther Harris Bennett. She was married to Milan Cary Barney, and they had two daughters, Edna and Florence.

Last rites for Mrs. Alice Barney who died in San Jose early Monday morning,were held at the graveside in the Yuba City Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Rev. Herbert Werner of the Presbyterian church was the minister. Although Mrs. Barney, whose husband, buried in the family plot some 45 years ago, was a prominent lawyer here, had been away for many years, a number of friends gathered at the grave, and many flowers were sent. Mrs. Florence Simons,a daughter, with whom Mrs. Barney had lived for a number of years, accompanied the body here from San Jose as did her son, Ray Simons, his wife and two daughters. Mrs. Anna Klinkert, former Sutter resident, was also in the
party. Another daughter of Mrs. Barney, Mrs. Edna Follansbee, of Yakima, Wash. was unable to attend. She had but recently returned north after spending a month at the bedside of her failing mother. Mrs. Andrew Simons and Mrs. Follansbee, was among those at the funeral.
