Hayes: It's with great sadness that the family of Emily Benoit Abshire, age 81 of Hayes, announces her ascension into Heaven on March 28, 2011 while in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family she loved so dearly. Funeral services for Mrs. Abshire will be held at L & A Hall in Hayes on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 @ 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at the hall beginning on Tuesday, March 29th at 2:30 PM until the time of her services on Wednesday. Mrs. Abshire will be laid to rest in Hayes Cemetery.
Emily was born in Cameron to the late Marcel and Delita Broussard Benoit on September 28, 1929. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her sons and taking care of her beloved husband, Wilfred. Emily enjoyed picking berries , gardening, and going eat out on the weekends with family and friends. She was very dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories is her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Wilfred Abshire of Hayes; 1 son, Antoine Doucet Jr. and wife Melissa also of Hayes; Ma Ma's Baby, Nathan Doucet of Hayes; 2 siblings, Frank Benoit of Big Lake and Idale Courville of Hayes; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Emily now rests in Heaven with her parents, Marcel and Delita; and 1 son, Michael Dean Abshire.
