"She was a graduate of New Hampton Literary and Biblical Institution, now known as The New Hampshire School. Mrs. Akerman taught school in one of the Alexandra one-room school houses until she married.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Akerman, and a daughter, Elsie May Lamos, in 1965.

Mrs. Akerman was devoted to her family and had a love of gardening, cooking and reading. She was known among family and friends for her wonderful letter writing which she shared with many. Mrs. Akerman was the holder of the Boston Post Cane for the town of Alexandria. "
