Carl Bergstedt was born at Skovde, Sweden, August 18, 1875 and passed away in the hospital in Sidney, Sunday June 20, 1943, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 20 days.
He left Sweden when he was 18 years old and came to Fairmont, Minnesota, where he lived for five years and then moved to Columbia falls, Montana. While making his home in Columbia Falls he was married to Anna Landin. Two children, Barton and Helen were born at Columbia Falls and in 1910 they family moved to Richland county where they made their home on a homestead just northwest of Savage. Here two children, Ida Louise and Landin were born.
Mr. Bergstedt engaged in farming and ranching in this community until a year ago when he moved to Savage to live and his son Landin took over the farming operations. He suffered a heart attack a few days before his death from which he was unable to rally.
Rev. Kirk M. Dewey conducted the funeral service which was held at the Savage Congregational church and the Masonic Lodge had charge of the committal service.
Carl was a member of Roosevelt Lodge No 140 and Eastern Star Chapter #98, both of Savage, and also the Savage Congregational church.
Surviving are the widow, Anna E. Bergstedt of Savage, two daughters, Mrs. Helen Elnes of Havre, Mt., and Mrs Ida Louise Seeve of Savage, and two sons, Barton of Weldona, Colorado and Landin of Savage. He is also survived by a host of friends.
