Played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Team. He Died in a Plane Crash he was piloting. Berringer, 22, who was expected to be selected in the NFL draft, held a pilot's license and often flew the plane. Berringer had often said he wanted to be a commercial airline pilot. Berringer was 7-0 as a starter during the 1994 season when Tommie Frazier was sidelined with blood clots in his leg. He was to have graduated in December of 1996 with a major in business administration.

Berringer was expected to be selected in the 1996 NFL draft, but he died in a plane crash just two days before the draft. A private pilot, Berringer was in control of a 1946 Piper Cub over Raymond, Nebraska, when the aircraft went down in an alfalfa field...(Read more)
