Ann Vino Bertini, 82, of Cortland, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. She was born in Syracuse and lived in Mattydale, Romulus, Skaneateles, Cortland and Syracuse before moving back
to Cortland in 1981.

A graduate of Skaneateles High School 1940, St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing 1944, and Simmons School of Mortuary Science 1974, she also took graduate courses at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI.

Mrs. Bertini served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII. She owned Bertini Funeral Home in Skaneateles and in Cortland (1975-1995). She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Cortland. She was a member of St. Joseph's Alumni Association, Catholic Daughters of America, Cortland Historical Society and Skaneateles Historical Society. Also she was a former member of Smith School PTA, NYS Funeral Directors' Association, American Legion-Cortland City Post 489 and a former director of Caring Community Hospice of Cortland
Foundation Board and Department of Social Services of Cortland County Advisory Board. She was a co-founder with her late husband of the Cortland YWCA swim team. She was employed by St. Mary's Hospital, Syracuse; St. Joseph's
Hospital, Syracuse; Mercy Hospital, Auburn; Cortland Memorial Hospital, Cortland; and Biggs Memorial Hospital, Ithaca. She was an active volunteer at St. Mary's School until her death.

Survived by two sons, Charles (Denise) of Orlando, FL, and James of Denver, CO; two daughters, Catherine (Thomas Haskell) of Cortland and Marianne (Brian Cummins) of Cortland; a grandson, William F. Lessard of Cortland; a granddaughter, Lauren Bertini of Orlando, FL; several cousins; and a special friend and mentor, John Badman. She was predeceased by her husband, Fulvio "Bert" Bertini, in 2001.

Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Mary's Church, Cortland, July 6, 2005, at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Minehan officiating. Calling hours will be at the home of daughter Marianne at 9 Forrest Avenue, Cortland, on July 5, 2005, from noon to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery Cortland. Contributions to Ann Bertini Scholarship Fund or Charlie Bertini Instrumental Music Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Mary's School, 61 N. Main Street, Cortland, NY 13045. Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc. Onondaga Hill.
