Max Besserer, age 95, of Forked River died on Wednesday, January 8th, 2014. Max was born in Germany and immigrated to West New York at the age of 7. He raised him family in Paramus before retiring to Forked River. Max was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought to victory in the Philippines. For 30 years, he worked as a tool and dye maker for Blickman Industries. Max was an avid bowler and bowled in a local league up until his death. He led the league with a high score of 210.

Mr. Besserer was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Theresa Besserer. Max is survived by his 5 sons, Bob and his wife Ronnie, Glenn and his wife Joan, Neal and his wife Linda, Mark and his wife Kathy and Dean, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his sister, Lottie.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 12th, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:30 am at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. Burial will follow at B/G William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
