She lived in Baltimore, Md. and upon marriage relocated to Gastonia where she raised her family and earned a degree in Art Education from Sacred Heart College in Belmont. She served as a substitute teacher for Gaston County Schools and participated in several art exhibitions with her work. She was an avid reader and enjoyed overseas travel. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy B. Allen, their son, Bruce D. Allen, a sister, Anne Beveridge, a brother, Tom Beveridge and a son-in-law, Major Currie.
Interment in Stony Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.
