PITTSFIELD Maria Belanger, 95, of Colonial Gardens, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittsfield on March 14, 1918, a daughter of Bortolo and Rose Bauchiero Bianchi, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

She was a employed by General Electric Co. in Customer Service for 29 years, retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Belanger was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church where she was active and a member of its Bowling League.

She had been a member of the G.E. Quarter Century and Pensioners Club, and was a member of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge #564. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking.

Her husband, Edward L. Belanger, whom she married April 15, 1939, died July 15, 2001.


Mrs. Belanger was pre-deceased by her brothers, Angelo and Henry Bianchi; by a son, Mark H. Belanger; by a daughter Jeanne Heil, and by a grandson. Shaun Thornton.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Maria Belanger will be held Friday, April 5, at 10:45 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 10:45 at the funeral home.
