The 1940 census shows her employed as a stenographer at a department store. Although she and Joe had no children of their own, she was a loving aunt to her 3 nephews and one niece. She was an outstanding needle worker and a baker of wonderful Christmas treats. Her rum balls and lemon squares are still remembered by her family.
