Jenny Mae Austin, the daughter of the late William Walter and Della Mae Biddle, was born on April 25, 1921 in Camden, New Jersey. At the age of 13 years old, she accepted Christ Jesus as her personal Savior, and was baptized at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Camden, New Jersey under the leadership of the late Rev. Emmanuel Taylor.

At the age of 16, she moved her membership to the First Nazarene Baptist Church under the late Rev. Mark O. Thompson, and later under the late Rev. Ethridge Williamson, Sr. There she served faithfully on the Usher Board, the Pastor's Aid, the Trustee's Aid, the Nurses Unit, and in the choir. In June 1967 she moved to Oakland, California and joined the Bethany Baptist Church under the late Rev. H. N. Watson. She continued to work and served faithfully on the Usher Board and in the Esther Circle. In December 1967 she moved to Oxnard, California and joined the Saint Paul Baptist Church of Oxnard under the leadership of the late Rev. Jesse Walker, and upon his death, the late Rev. Hosea N. Edwards. She continued to work, and served on the Usher Board and did whatever she could to help the church.

In August 1982 she moved her membership to the Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Warren G. Gaston, to worship together with her husband, Deacon Elijah Austin. There she continued to serve on the Usher Board, the Missionary Society and was a faithful member of the Sunday School. On May 10, 1992, along with her husband, she moved her membership back to the Saint Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Broderick A. Huggins. There she continued to work and serve faithfully until illness slowed her down.
