Obit: Mrs. John Hampton Barnes, wife of the former Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, died yesterday at her home in suburban Devon. Mrs. Barnes, the former Eleanor Kearny Biddle, was the daughter of the Late George W. and Mary Hossack Biddle. She was active in Republican politics and was chairman of the Republican Women's Luncheon Club. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. H. Gates Lloyd; a son, John Hampton Barnes Jr.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. F. A. Todd, Mrs. E. C. Geyelin, and Mrs. J. B. Newton, and three sisters. [The New York Times. June 5, 1947]
