            Injuries Fatal To Lonzo Biggs

                  Fall Of Coal On Sept. 7
             At Eccles Causes Death Today


Lonzo C. Biggs, 59, injured by falling coal in the Eccles mine on Friday, September 7, died in a local hospital this morning at 2:20. Extensive fractures of his pelvis resulted in his bladder being punctured. His propect of recovery was held slight from the time of his admission.

The body will be taken to the home at Eccles from the Calfee mortuary here today.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Mt. Tabor Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 burial following in the Mt. Tabor cemetery. The Reverend Grant Stephens, of Bolt, and the Reverend R. C. Cannon, of Beckley, will have charge of the services.

He was born January 14, 1875, at Prosperity, and was a life-long resident of the county. He was formerly employed by the Virginian Railway company but in more recent years resided on a farm near Harper. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Godbey Biggs, and the following children:
   Paul, Cecil, and Bryant Biggs; Mrs. Van McCutcheon, all of Eccles; Mrs. Dawson Daniel, of Maynor, Mrs. J. R. Stanley and Mrs. D. R. Wilson of Eccles; Mrs. K. E. Beckelheimer, and Misses Wilma, Freda Mae, and Mildred Biggs, all of Harper.

Four brothers and four sisters survive: Sidney J. Biggs, of Jenkinjones, W. Va.; John Biggs, of Prosperity, Howard Biggs of Eccles, and Clyde Biggs, of Wright; Mrs. Laura Bennett, of Lester, Mrs. Gene Cauley, of Stanaford, Mrs. Snow Farley, of Beckley and Mrs. Georgia Snyder, of Charleston.
