Enlisted on 6/1/1861 at Stokes County, NC., he was mustered into Company H, 12th NC Infantry as a Private. (This regiment subsequently became 22nd North Carolina.)
Listed on 6/1 - 8/31/1861 Roll as "Absent, Sick at Fredericksburg, Augt. 25."
He died of disease at Ashland, VA.
His father, Robert W. Biggs, filed a Settlement Claim 9/22/1862.
