A former Reading High School teacher and sports figure Norbert Paul Billinger, and his brother, Carl F. Billinger, 79, of 1451 Friedensburg Rd died several hours apart on Tuesday.
Norbert died Tuesday afternoon at 1 in St. Joseph Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 8, while Carl died Tuesday morning at 5:45 in Reading Hospital where he had been one day..
Carl was the husband of Gertrude L. (Kramer) Billinger, who died in 1973.
He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mount Penn.
He had been the owner of Billinger's General Store, Stony Creek Mills, from 1922 retiring in December 1983.
The brothers are survived by two sisters: H. Gertrude Billinger, New York City, and Sister M. Margaret, Order of St. Francis, St. Agnes Hospital, Philadelphia.
Also a brother, Monsignor Reginald S. Billinger, Bethlehem.
In addition to his sisters and brother, he is survived by two sons: H. Joseph of Reading R.D. 4 and William R. of Crestwood.
Also a daughter. Carol A., wife of Thomas Ott, Allentown, and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
