CAMBRIDGE -- LaVerne Ankenman, 79, died Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Brigham, Ark., to Clay and Estell (Brown) Billingsley. She graduated from Santa Rose High School in Santa Rosa, Calif., in 1944.

She married Frederick Ankenman on Sept. 27, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kan. They made their home in Lebanon in 1967.

She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Estell Billingsley; a brother, Clay Billingsley; and one grandson, Terry Ankenman.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Ankenman and wife, Bella of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Terry Ankenman and wife, Mary Lou of Apple Valley, Calif.; one sister, Ruby; and three grandchildren.

Services were today at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
