Katherine G. (Bilotti) Mariani of Syracuse passed away Wednesday at home. Mrs. Mariani was raised in Utica, and lived in Rome, NY, Washington, D.C., Alabama and Pennsylvania before moving to Syracuse in 1950. She graduated cumlaude from Syracuse University in 1966 and taught fourth and fifth grades at Pere LeMoyne Elementary School and Lincoln School, both in Syracuse, from 1966 until her retirement in 1978. She was a member and officer of Amicitia Inc., an Italian-American charitable scholarship organization. She was also a member of the Corinthian Club, the Daughters of Columbus and the Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Roman Catholic Church. Her husband of 57 years, former City Court Judge Louis H. Mariani, died in 2001. A grandson, Louis J. Mariani, died in 1999. Survivors: her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen L. and James "Buzz" Hartnagle; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Vikki Mariani; two grandsons, Corey and Tyler Hartnagle; a granddaughter, Rose Katherine Mariani; a brother, Gregory Gualtieri of Oregon; a niece, Margaret H. Mariani, of Utica; a nephew, Michael A. Gualtieri, of Oregon; and many cousins. Services: Funeral services Monday 8:30 a.m. from FARONE & SON, and 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central New York or to your own favorite charity.
