Resident for 50 years
Frankston - Funeral services for Mrs. Emmie Baker, 81, land owner and resident of this community for 50 years, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Frankston Methodist Church with the Rev. Louis Sada of Port Arthur and the Rev. John F. Garrett, pastor of the First Baptist Church here, officiating.
Mrs. Baker died Friday in a Jacksonville hospital after a weeks' illness.
A native of Nacogdoches County, Mrs. Baker and her husband, the late Robert W. Baker, moved to Frankston in 1912 where Mr. Baker became one of the area's most successful farmers. Later, the couple became extensive landowners.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Birdwell family, pioneer family of Nacogdoches County.
Interment will be in the City Cemetery at Frankston under direction of the Hassell and Foster Funeral Home of Palestine.
Survivors are four sons, Zach Baker of Dialville, Ray Baker of Bullard, Max Baker and Woodrow Baker of Frankston; five daughters, Mrs. Lorena Baker, Mrs. Quanah Price and Mrs. Ennis Williams of Frankston, Mrs. L. O. Watts of Navasota and Mrs. Harry C. Christensen of Coquille, Ore.; two brothers, Bob Birdwell of Jourdantown and Von Birdwell of Rusk; three sisters, Miss Kathryn Birdwell, Mrs. Addie Winder and Mrs. Mattie Corley of Nacogdoches; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
