WILDWOOD CREST, N.J. - G. Ruth Bishop Rokes, 81, of Wildwood Crest and formerly of Uxbridge, Mass., died yesterday in Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, in Cape May Court House, N.J., after a long illness.
Her second husband, Herbert Rokes of Concord, N.H., and her first husband, Walter Bishop of Uxbridge, predeceased her. She leaves a daughter, Carol Bishop Hewett of Wildwood Crest; a stepdaughter, Barbara Rokes Manning of Fairhaven, Vt.; a brother and a sister; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. A son, Harvey Bishop of Uxbridge, and a stepson, William Rokes of Concord, N.H., both predeceased her.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deerfield, N.H., where she sang in the choir. She was also an affiliate member of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church in New Jersey, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woonsocket, R.I. Chapter.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 2030 South Shore Road, Seaville, NJ 08230, or to a church of the donor's choice. Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, N.J. is directing arrangements.
