Burt George Doud (Bissell) was born the son of George H. Doud and Elizabeth Wells Doud. It is uncertain why, but by 1900 he goes by the Bissell last name. Dr. Bissell was an Allopath who received his medical training at the University of Illinois. He practiced in Aurora, Iowa, beginning about 1910. He lived and had his office at Prospect St., east of Main St. This home later became the Baptist parsonage in Aurora. Dr. Bissell administered to Aurora residents and delivered many babies during his years in Aurora. He later moved to Dubuque, then back to Chicago, where he died suddenly in 1925, but he was brought back to Aurora for burial.
