Paula Sue (Bissell) Arnold, 59, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away at 10:30 p.m., June 5, 2009, at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola after a short battle of cancer.

Paula was born Dec. 2, 1949, in Springfield, to Paul and Shirley (Ealy) Bissell. She married Gene Arnold Nov. 11, 1967, in Effingham, and to this marriage was born their daughter, Kristin Joyleen Arnold on June 12, 1970.

Paula and Gene moved to Pensacola, Fla., in 1969 with the assignment of Gene to Naval Air Station while he was in the U.S. Navy. They divorced in 1977.

In 1980, Paula met Jesse McLemore and they shared 13 years together before Jesse passed away in 1993.

Paula is well known in the food and beverage industry in the Pensacola, Fla., area. After leaving the food and beverage industry, she was employed locally at TSA and Flyin' J in Effingham. After returning to Florida, she became a personal care giver with Specialty Care and Baptist Manor in Pensacola. She truly had a passion to comfort the needs of others and will always be remembered for this.

Paula became a true friend to many people in her life and cherished the times she could spend with her daughter and family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Paula is survived by her daughter Kristin Kimble; two granddaughters, Savana Rose and Bryana Ra'qel, all of whom she loved very, very much. Paula also is survived by her sister, Jean Bohnhoff; brothers, Gail and Todd Bissell, Jerry and Steve Weidner; and several nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Ransom Weidner and her brothers, Terry and Jerry Bissell.

Visitation was at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood.

A graveside service was held in Iola Cemetery, with Judy Poe officiating.

She managed several establishments including; Red Lobster, Oakfield Restaurant, Sheraton Inn, Justin's, Trader Jon's, Red Baron, Rag Tyme Grill, and numerous others in her career. After leaving the food and beverage industry she became a personal care giver with Specialty Care and Baptist Manor in Pensacola. She truly had a passion to comfort the needs of others and will always be remembered for this.
Paula became a friend to many people in the Pensacola area and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Paula is survived by her daughter Kristin and son-in-law Robert , 2 granddaughters; Savana Rose and Bryana Ra'qel, all of whom she loved very very much. Paula is also survived by her sister Jean(Gary) Bohnhoff of Dieterich IL, Brothers; Gail (Susie) Bissell of Mason, IL, Todd Bissell of Effingham IL, Jerry (Treva) Weidner of Sumner IL, Steve (Alma)Weidner of Brownstown IL, and several nieces and nephews. Paula was preceded in death by her parents; Shirley and Ransom Weidner and Paula's brothers, Terry and Jerry Bissell.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 till 7:00 pm with a service starting at 6:00 pm, Wednesday June 10th at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home in Pensacola. Interment will follow at a later date in Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for Savana and Bryana's college fund.
