Agnes Hill first appears on the public record in the 1880 U.S. Census in Pontotoc, Mississippi at one year of age. She is with her father Thomas Hill, a farmer, her mother Sophia Hill, and a 6 month old brother, Doran.
In 1900, the family has moved to Union City, Obion, Tennessee, where father, T.J. Hill, is a carpenter. Children are: Agnes-21, Doran-20, and Hal-7.
Agnes Hill and Frederick Black were married in 1901 in Obion, Tennesse. Fred worked for the Rail Road, as a Steam Engineer and had emigrated from Ontario, Canada about 1880.
The couple appear in the 1930 U. S. Census living at 573 Manassas, Memphis, where Frederick passed away on Oct 31, 1934. Agnes had Frederick taken "home" to St. Thomas, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada, where he was buried with his parents and siblings.
Agnes was a widow for 38 years - from 1934 to her death in 1972, and remained in Memphis the rest of her life. They had no children..
