Erma Mildred (Black) Allshouse Rosenberger was born on September 24, 1917 in Apollo, Armstrong County Pennsylvania. She is he daughter of John Harrison "Harry" Black and Mary Matilda "Tillie" (Baker) Black.
Her father built houses in the Apollo area until the time of the great depression when he moved the family from Apollo to Commodore in Indiana County Pennsylvania. The family lived off the land there and Erma grew up there.
The family returned to the Apollo area in the late 1930's and Erma met William R. Allshouse the son of Arthur R. and Anna Mary (Patterson) Allshouse. They fell in love and not long after were married. They had seven children . These are Erma J., James, Harry, Dwight, Daniel, Kathy, and Tim. William R. Allshouse became ill with diabetes and lost his sight from it. On the 14th of February 1958 he passed away leaving Erma with six children and pregnant with their last. Though this was a difficult time Erma worked long hours baking, canning and cleaning houses to make ends meet. In the late 1960's she met John Carson Rosenberger widower of Margaret Smith Rosenberger. They married with the youngest children Daniel, Kathy, and Tim still at home. John passed away in 1989. Erma lived in McMurty towers in Vandergrift the remainder of her active years. She was active with meals on wheels and would go out on walks well into her 80's. She had many friends there and family would always come to see her. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly. On January 22, 2015 she went home to be with the Lord. Erma had a great impact on all her family with her love and faith. She is cherished and missed greatly.
