Bertha (Blackford) Batson was born on May 26, 1880 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of Josephus Nathaniel Blackford (1841-1908) and Rebecca Maria (Matthews) Blackford (1846-1906).

She was married about 1897 to Charles Gholson "Charlie" Batson (1866-1937), the son of Thomas Hatton Batson Sr (1831-1911) and Malinda Margaret (Gillium) Batson (1832-1898).

Bertha passed away on June 16, 1923 in Montgomery County and was buried in W M Batson Cemetery.
