Mildred (Black) Akins was born on March 17, 1924 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of Charlie Alvin Black (1891–1976) and Maggie Jane (Britt) Black (1893–1953).
She was married to Lester "Herman" Akins (1912–1975), and he was the son of James Lafayette "Fate" Akin (1868–1953) and his 2nd wife Darthulie (Conatser) Akin (1880–1956).
A member of Gum Springs Baptist Church and living in Cunningham, Montgomery County, Mildred was 74 years old and a widow when she died on September 12, 1998 at Clarksville Memorial Hospital.
Survivors included an Akins son, a daughter, brother Eugene Black and sisters Edna Earl Black and Odell Rye, all in Cunningham.
Funeral Services were held on September 14th at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and burial was in Black Cemetery.
